Cookie Shootout 2016-09-25

There's only one cookie left...

This short video was designed to try out some smoke puff assets I had just started recording. The smoke puffs didn't work out the way I hoped, but I did get this odd piece.

Although I almost didn't get the video either; after I shot it I realized I had to cut a big part out towards the end. There was a nice moving shot of the little brother picking up his gun, but I was unable to mask the fact that it's an airsoft pistol. You can still feel this "hole" at the end, but I did manage to get the video finished.

Airsoft and Movie Magic 2015-07-15

Got an airsoft pistol and wondered what would happen if I added some movie magic?

Muzzle flashes and shells for the movie magic came from Action Essentials, and the smoke was simulated in Blender. Everything was composited in Hitfilm and grading, aspect ratio, and camera shake were also added there.

Believe the Film 2015-04-18

Demonstrating that you shouldn't always trust videos, and that you'll probably look in the wrong place.

I used Mocha Pro v3 and Hitfilm 3 Pro for the various effects here:

  • Teleportation: Removing the gas mask fiend (or whatever) just used the Mocha remove module. The scene was then tracked in Mocha and the track imported in Hitfilm for smoke to be composited in 3d space.
  • Signs: The signs were altered purely with Mocha's insert module. Pictures were taken of the signs and altered in GIMP
  • Car color: In Mocha I tracked the car and exported track mattes. These were imported into Hitfilm were a simple color grade was applied to just the car.
  • Sky replacement: Mocha was used to track the rooftops and the track mattes were inverted in Hitfilm. The sky was then rougly masked out and luminance keyed, since it was so cloudy this was quite simple. A nice image from Wikimedia Commons was then put behind the keyed-out sky.

Car Crash 2015-04-14

Testing making a Car Crash with Blender following a CG-masters tutorial. I also used HitFilm 3 Pro for some additional effects, including the lens flares.

The car was simulated as a rigidbody with Bullet inside Blender. I then used the proportional editing to create the bending and deformation to fit the simulation. For the glass i just used the explode modifier with particles that inherited 100% of the object's speed. Finally I got the background picture, UV-unwrapped the geometry with 'project from view' and composited it behind the scene. The scene was lit using an HDR image and rendered with Cycles. In HitFilm I just added and animated some lens flares and some lens dirt.

Hubsan vs GoPro 2014-06-16

After getting both a Husban X4 (teeny tiny) quadcoper and a GoPro Hero+ Black edition, I decided to record a flight of the X4, with both the inboard camera and the GoPro, the GoPro being attached to my head while piloting the quadcopter. I edited the two videos together with Kevin McLeod's Electrodoodle, and the result is that they're both very fun. And my cat is very interested in the little flying thing.

Magician's juice 2013-09-01

A young magician's apprentice finds himself wanting some cold, and rather juicy, beverage.

This is a combination of Hitfilm 2 Ultimate's Particle simulator (and the mobile emitters), and the remove tool in mocha pro. I'm actually really pleased with the result.

Mocha Test 2013-08-14

Trying out the features of Mocha Pro 3 by Imagineer systems. Editing and some additional effects were done in Hitfilm 2 Ultimate.

Arizona Take Off 2012-03-30

A robot prepares for battle and takes off!

I was trying out the Arizona model from Project London . After figuring out how the rigging worked I made this short animation to see the final result. I used Hitfilm for the Lens flare and smoke effects, since I'm more used to that program, and it's a bit faster.
